Ideas: This is my first sketch for my Digital Collage project. My original concept was to have an image of myself in front of a black background with school supplies and textbooks floating around me. This was to represent the stresses of school that surrounded my life. I developed my concept a bit by changing the background from black, to a messy closet in my home, and I added puzzle pieces and refrigerator letter magnets. I then created a second sketch with added objects, just so I can see how it would possibly look like when it's completed. My last sketch includes notes about what the objects represent.
1.) After my sketches, I began to take photos of objects in my home to incorporate into my piece, and saved them on my flash drives. 2.) Once I opened Photoshop, I set my measurements to 24 in x 36 in (60.96 cm x 91.44 cm). I then proceeded to open up the images I wanted to use. 3.) I used the lasso tool to cut, copy, and paste myself onto my background. 4.) I then collected certain objects from each photo to put into my piece. 5.) After adjusting everything, my final piece was created. Experimentation:While I was using photoshop, I began to experiment with other tools that weren't taught to me in class. Instead of using the Lasso tool, I began to use the Polygonal Lasso tool. This was easier for me to use since I had lots of smooth edges. In order to make some of the objects more transparent, I used Fade to give them a ghostly, clear look.

Meaning Behind My Piece:
For my piece, I wanted my theme to be anxiety, so I thought of all the things in my life that made me feel stressed out. The main thing in my life that stresses me out is school. That's when I got the idea of having textbooks and school supplies floating around in my piece. I was going to have a black background for my piece, but I decided that it would look too plain. I then remembered that I had a messy closet in my home, and thought that would be a good background to show how my life is disorganized from the stress. In order to show this, I purposely made myself look sad and gloomy to express the tiredness I felt about dealing with the stress, and how I had feelings of just giving up on my school work.

Reflection: After completing my piece, I looked back on the struggles and improvements I had with this project. Some struggles I had with this project, were trying to remember the tools I learned, taking screen shots, and time management. After being taught how to use the basic tools, I forgot how to use some of the tools. This then lead me to play around with some of the other tools, which I eventually used for my piece. Another struggle I had was with trying to capture the screen shots I needed. Unfortunately I still wasn't able to capture screen shots of my entire computer screen, so I wasn't able to show the tools I used and the actual process. My last stuggle was time management. For first three class periods I had no idea in my mind as to what I wanted to create. This had me behind compared to some of my other classmates. I was still able to finish my Digital Collage, but due to the limited time I had I wasn't able to add more into my piece.
